There are a couple things going wrong in the code. First off, you don't need to put the actual JavaScript code in the HTML file. Second, you are using the <script> to bring in the JS file, but your need to 1) Move it down into the body tags and 2) don't close the opening script tag until after the location of the file.
Corrected code is
