With what you have challenge 2 didn't pass for me until I changed the first letter in li element to be upper case.

      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li> <a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
          <li> <a href="about.html">About</a></li>
          <li> <a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
        </ul>
      </nav>

<nav> <ul> <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li> <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li> <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li> </ul> </nav>

There is no need to have a space between the <li> and the <a> element with the link. I don't know if that is causing the problems, but yeah... there is no need for the space. Try removing the spaces.
