layout problems: block vs. inline-block for .contact-info a

After setting break points for the two and three column layouts, I had some funky layout issues with the background images for the .contact-info a links. When set to display:block, the images would all float left away from the links, but changing display:block to display:inline-block fixed the issue.

I've compared my code to the project files and everything in main.css, responsive.css, and contact.html matches up. Changing the display value worked, but I'd like to know why display:block was acting up for me.

Any thoughts?

.contact-info {
  list-style: none;
  padding: 0;
  margin: 0;
  font-size: 0.9em;
}

.contact-info a {
  display: block;
  min-height: 20px;
  background-repeat: no-repeat;
  background-size: 20px 20px;
  padding: 0 0 0 30px;
  margin: 0 0 10px;
}

.contact-info li.mail a{
  background-image: url('../img/mail.png')
}

.contact-info li.phone a{
   background-image: url('../img/phone.png')
}

.contact-info li.twitter a {
   background-image: url('../img/twitter.png')
}

I think this explanation will sum it up for you.

I had the exact same problem. I changed it from "display: inline;" to "display: inline-block;" and it seems to work just fine :) Hope I haven't bunged it up for the following instructions. :)
