Link each of the three list items...

I'm trying to get this accepted, but it says this portion of the code is no good. I've reviewed it and can't find the error.

<li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>

Isn't that linking portfolio to index.html?

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <nav>
          <ul>
           <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
           <h2>Designer</h2>
             <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
             <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
             <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
      </a>
        </ul>
      </nav>
    </header>

Your code is almost correct except you added the a,h1, and h3 tag in the wrong place. The ul is always follow by li tag. You shouldn't have the h1 and h2 tag inside ul element.

<a href="index.html">
        <nav>
          <ul>
           <h1>Nick Pettit</h1><!--this shouldn't be here-->
           <h2>Designer</h2><!--your mistake here too-->
             <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
             <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
             <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
      </a><!--this shouldn't be here-->
        </ul>

Correct way

        <nav>
       <ul>
             <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
             <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
             <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
   </ul>
</nav>
