10,700 PointsMy code is right but I get an error
Checked it on my computer with the test in the comment, I get the right output.
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word_count(str):
res = {}
for word in str.split(' '):
if word.lower() in res:
res[word.lower()] += 1
else:
res[word.lower()] = 1
return res

Treehouse TeacherHi there! Yes, you checked it with the test data, but keep in mind that that particular data contains no new lines or tabs. The challenge specifically asks you to split on all whitespace, but currently, you are only splitting on spaces.
To split on all whitespace you need to remove the argument from the split()
method.
Instead of:
split(" ") # this splits on spaces
You need this:
split()
Hope this helps!
