My code return the right answer

why the following code is not right?

def squared(num): try: x = int(num) print(int(num) * int(num))
except Exception: print(len(num) * num) squared(10)

squared.py 
# EXAMPLES
# squared(5) would return 25
# squared("2") would return 4
# squared("tim") would return "timtimtim"
def squared(num):
    try:
        x = int(num)
        print(int(num) * int(num))   
    except Exception:
        print(len(num) * num)

    except:
        return num * len(num)
    else:
        return int(num) ** 2

The challenge asks you to return the value not print it to the screen.

You also do not need to define 

x = int(num)

as you do not use 

x

anywhere in the scope, 

int(num)

is suffecient to test if

num

can be converted to an integer.
