My code works in workspace but not for the challenge

I copied and pasted this exact code and when I run it in my workspace adding a phrase and calling out the function, it works. But not for the challenge

wordcount.py 
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.

def word_count(string):
    phrase = string.lower().split()
    word_count = {}
    for words in phrase:
        count = phrase.count(words)
        word_count.update({words:count})
    print(word_count)
