5,170 PointsThis most likely means that you either don't have TextMate installed, or that you have not added it to your path.
If you are using Mac, this is good answer:

12,025 PointsYou also might not have the command line commands installed for Textmate. Here's a bit more about installing the Textmate 2 command line stuff!

In the example mate hello.rb was entered. when i tried that nothing happened.
So what I did was opened sublime text, created the hello.rb file with the string 'puts "hello world" and saved it out to my main folder. from there in terminal i was able to type ruby hello.rb and the string appeared.
just looking how to do it the way he did.
