12,206 PointsNeed help installing WordPress...
I'm having some trouble installing WP. I'm trying to do this locally but when I type 'localhost' into my browser, it can't find the localhost. I tried doing this with desktopserver and it didn't work and I also used XAMPP and still couldn't get it to work. I'm really wanting to get this to work locally so I can try it before I buy a domain and use it that way, but are there any other free and easy ways to get WP? I was working on this for hours and still couldn't get it.
P.S I tried the trick where you change ports 80 and 443 and still got nothing.
Please help...
Thanks, Mike

12,206 PointsYes. Both MySQL and Apache were both running. I was able to get to the XAMPP page, but when I tried making a WordPress site, it couldn't find it.

12,206 PointsNevermind. I figured it out. I have to type localhost:8080/wordpress/wp-admin to login. Thank you for your help though!!

12,206 PointsNo. Both servers were running and I was able to access the XAMPP page but couldn't get any WordPress page or plugin to run.
