47,991 Points$render is called by Angular when a model changes. Therefore you would need to define its functionality on the ngModelCtrl which was required via "require: 'ngModel' ". To retrieve the value of ngModel you would use $viewValue.
See below for better clarity:
angular.module('myApp', [])
.controller('myController', function($scope) {
$scope.user = {
name: 'Alex'
};
})
.directive('myDirective', function () {
return {
require: 'ngModel',
priority: 1,
link: function ($scope, $element, $attrs, ngModelCtrl) {
ngModelCtrl.$render = function(){
console.log(ngModelCtrl.$viewValue);
}
}
}
});
