Need help on this one

Hey! Im trying that code but it said: "can't multiply sequence by non-int of type 'str'" What's wrong with my cod? thanx!

def squared(number):
    try:
        number = int(number)
        return number * number
    except ValueError:
        return len(number * number)




# EXAMPLES
# squared(5) would return 25
# squared("2") would return 4
# squared("tim") would return "timtimtim"

You probably meant to write this:

        return len(number) * number
