NoMethodError in Contacts#edit

This is what I have in my routes.rb file

Rails.application.routes.draw do
  # For details on the DSL available within this file, see http://guides.rubyonrails.org/routing.html
  get '/contacts/:id/edit', to: 'contacts#edit'
  get '/contacts', to: 'contacts#index', as: 'home'
  get '/contacts/new', to: 'contacts#new', as: 'new'
  get '/contacts/:id', to: 'contacts#show', as: 'shows'
  post '/contacts', to: 'contacts#create'
end

and this is the content of my edit.html.erb file

I get the following error message when I try to load the following page http://localhost:3000/contacts/1/edit

NoMethodError in Contacts#edit
