Not really Sure what I am doing wrong

Not really sure what I am doing wrong here!

  before_filter :find_monkey

    monkey = Monkey.find_monkey
    render json: monkey.as_json(include::bananas)
  end

  def find_monkey
    @monkey = Monkey.find(params[:id])

you only need this line after render, with a space between include and bananas:

 monkey.as_json(include: :bananas)
