Not sure how to add post pieces "jrt" + "ttw" AND add it and both strings be all upper case?

Also think I'm experiencing a glitch.. 'cause I restarted and it's still saying that it has an "x" in when it doesn't.. On the 2nd module of Javascript Basics - Challege 1 of 2.. passed this one earlier.. was having trouble on 2.

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = "23188xtr".toUpperCase() + "Smith";
index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>
</head>
<body>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Hi Erin,

Instead of retyping the string, you should be using the 'id'.

In between the 'id' and 'lastName' you have to add a '#'. Also make the lastName uppercase.

This will pass, the '+' is used to join the strings.

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();
