Not sure what task 3 is asking - everything works for task 1 and 2. Can you tighten up the requirements in task 3?

My interpretation of "Make a while loop that runs until start is falsey" means: while start != 0 or: while start:

after evaluating randomly generated number, start is decremented by 1 regardless of whether random number os even or odd.

even.py
import random

def even_odd(num):
    # If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
    # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
    return not num % 2

start = 5

while start:
    random_num = random.randint(1, 99)
    if even_odd(random_num):
        print("{} is even").format(random_num)
    else:
        print("{} is odd").format(random_num)
    start -= 1

Hi there! You've got a great understanding of what the challenge is asking and a flawless understanding of the logic. The only tiny piece that is missing is a bit of syntax in the print statements. The .format should be immediately on the end of the string to be formatted. Essentially, you have a problem with your parentheses which is causing a syntax error:

You wrote:

print("{} is even").format(random_num)

But that should be:

print("{} is even".format(random_num))

Hope this helps! :sparkles:

Thanks Jennifer - ironically both print calls work on Python 2.7.13.

Just tried with Python 3.6.1 and got the error message: {} is odd Traceback (most recent call last): File "even.py", line 15, in <module> print("{} is odd").format(random_num) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'format'

<shakes tiny fist at Python 2.7> LOL
