Hi,

There is no need to declare var UserName variable a second time. Just add the new code using concatenation to the end of the original var userName variable such as:

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

Also they did not ask you to write the variable to the document, in case that messes with the validation.

Alternatively, you could replace your code with

userName += "#" + lastName;
document.write(userName.toUpperCase());
