Notation

What is 'notation', like is it the style of writing or doing something?

Looking up on Google: Notation: "A series or system of written symbols used to represent numbers, amounts, or elements in something such as music or mathematics".

Basically, it is just the form of expressing something. You can think of it having the same meaning as the term syntax. It isn't really the "style" of writing.
