ok? what am i doing wrong ?

ok in my terminal i get an output : ['555-555-5555']

string = '555-555-5555'
def phone_numbers(string):
    return re.findall(r'\d+-?\d+-?\d+-?', string)
print(phone_numbers(string))

A few issues to consider:

  • you don't need to define "string", the validator will provide that
  • you only need to define the function, not call it
  • you don't need to "print" anything
  • the hyphens are part of the recognition pattern and are not optional
  • there should not be a trailing hyphen
  • the number of digits contributes to number recognition and should not be variable
