PHP Object-Oriented PHP Basics (Retired) Inheritance, Interfaces, and Exceptions Final Challenge

Oriented Object Challenge

Hey Guys, any hint would be much appreciated, either its the editor who lost it, or I did ! I have this as error : Make sure You include the fish's common name in the return value !!!

fish.php
<?php

class Fish
{
    public $common_name;
    public $flavor;
    public $record_weight;

    function __construct($name, $flavor, $record){
        $this->common_name = $name;
        $this->flavor = $flavor;
        $this->record_weight = $record;
    }

    public function getInfo() {
        $output  = "The {$this->common_name} is an awesome fish. ";
        $output .= "It is very {$this->flavor} when eaten. ";
        $output .= "Currently the world record {$this->common_name} weighed {$this->record_weight}.";
        return $output;
    }
}

class Trout extends Fish
{
  public $species;

  function __construct($name,$flavor,$record,$species)
  {
    parent::__construct($name,$flavor,$record);
    $this->species = $species;
  }

  public function getInfo()
  {
    return "{$this->species} {$this->name} tastes {$this->flavor}. The record {$this->species} {$this->name} weighed {$this->record}";
  }

}

$brook_trout = new Trout("Trout","Delicious","14 pounds 8 ounces", "Brook");
echo $brook_trout->getInfo();
?>

This issue here is a small mistake that is easy to make! You've got to make sure you're calling the property name on your object when you're constructing your sentence in the getInfo() function, not the parameter name (is easy to confuse them!).

You have:

// in your return statement, you're calling $this->name and $this->record, but those properties do not exist. the properties you need are $this->common_name and $this->record_weight
public function getInfo()
  {
    return "{$this->species} {$this->name} tastes {$this->flavor}. The record {$this->species} {$this->name} weighed {$this->record}";
  }

You want:

// notice that the only things changed are $this->name to $this->common_name and $this->record to $this->record_weight
public function getInfo()
  {
    return "{$this->species} {$this->common_name} tastes {$this->flavor}. The record {$this->species} {$this->common_name} weighed {$this->record_weight}";
  }

Otherwise, you're good to go!

Erik

Thanks a lot Eric !
