9,453 PointsSorry for the non-answer but why not? It's a popular tool with a lot of documentation and has grown up a lot in the last few years. It's not really the same PHP that people habitually dump on anymore.

28,888 Pointschristian lian huat toh compared to what? Like Corey mentioned it's not really the same PHP that often gets dumped on. Plus, don't make the mistake in thinking that you're only going to learn one language. I work with both Ruby and PHP often and what you learn about one will influence how you approach the other.
