I dont understand the answer and why it is right, pls help

Because of the way two sets of brackets are being used, you can surmise that the "player" must be a dictionary which has at least one item with a key of "weapons", and the associated value must be another dictionary which has an item with a key of "sword".

Only one of the possible choices meets that description.
