please help

when i run it, it says "Task 1 is no longer passing" i don't know what that means. and how do i 'decrement by 1'?

If it is telling you that task one is no longer passing, that means that you have an error in your code.

  1. Run your while loop after even_odd
  2. Run your prints in the while loop; again after even_odd
  3. Decrementing is subtracting one from a value. I.E. start -= 1 or start = start - 1

def even_odd(num):
    # If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
    # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
    return not num % 2

start = 5

while start:
    random_number = random.randint(1, 99)
    if even_odd(random_number):
        print("{} is even".format(random_number))
    else:
        print("{} is odd".format(random_number))
    start -= 1
