You are very close! Here are the changes to make:

  • keep the total method unaltered. It looks like you have mixed the roll method code with the total method
  • remember to import D20 from dice
  • To be callable from the class Hand, the roll method should be decorated using @classmethod
  • be sure to call the method roll not "rolls"
  • as a class method, the first parameter will point to the current class. So "self" would point to the class. You could use inst = self() to create an instance. This is why class methods usually name the first parameter cls to imply "class", then an instance could be created using self = cls() which is more readable.
  • when appending D20, be sure to use instances of D20 created with the parens: D20()
  • lastly, be sure that the class method returns the instance you created: return self
