You're really close there.

You just overlooked the part of the instructions that said, "Then reassign the menu variable..."

Just put the result back into menu and you'll have it.

where do I put this? menu.format(display_menu)

You put it back into the menu variable. The format function doesn't change anything, it just returns a new value.

menu = menu.format(display_menu)
