Python Challenge: Shopping list: Break

I am unable to figure out the correct way to get this code to work. I am supposed to have it print each thing in items, but if that thing is 'STOP' it is supposed to break. I've tried many different approaches and I just can't figure it out. Thanks ahead of time.

breaks.py 
def loopy(items):
    if item = 'STOP'
      break

    for thing in items: 
        print(item)

As you loop through each thing in items, check if that thing is "STOP":

def loopy(items):
    for thing in items: 
        if thing == 'STOP':
            break
        print(thing)
