Question about uses of data in JSON. What kind of data can I display in my website or android app?

Hi there,

I'm going through the "Build a blog reader android app" and it explains MCV, how to get data from the internet in json and displayed in your app. My question is, where do we get this data from? Is it legal to just get son data from lets say weatherchannel and displayed in my app? or are there specific sources and prices programmers have to pay to access such data?

I did some research on Google, but I would rather this topic be explained by somebody that has experience dealing with json. Thank you!
