Really don't understand the answer. I'm pretty I've found the answer but it says I'm wrong. Help?

Apparently it's wrong but I don't understand how. I've been faced with quite a frequent problem where the questions are too vague in what they ask so I usually have to try a few times before I get an answer it likes.

slices.py 
def first_4(list):
    return list[0:4]

def first_and_last_4(list):
    one = list[0:4]
    two = list[-5:-1:1]
    return one + two

This program may work on some specific lists, but it wouldn't work on other lists
