returning an argument

not sure what's wrong here?

You're not returning anything, you're calling alert() with the value instead. You'll need to return the argument that's passed in using return.

Hi Jesse, Your code is running just fine. What exactly is the challenge question? Maybe you have typed something slightly differently than they request in the challenge (case sensitive, or spacing-wise).

Here are the instructions Andrew:

create a function named returnValue() that accepts a single argument, then returns that argument. This isn't a useful function, but we want to make sure you know how to create a function that can accept information when it is called.
