Ruby method to find duplicate character in given String

I wanted to avoid repetating characters in given String like if input is aaaabc then output will be abc

Hi,

Have you tried the squeeze method? 

"my duuuuplicatiiiing sttrriiiing".squeeze

Of course, there are other ways to do this, but nothing beats a good squeeze in the morning. :)
