Does anyone spot the problem?

index.html

<html>
<head></head>
  <meta charset=
<body></body>

You need to give a value to charset and close the tag

<meta charset = "utf-8">

Remove the spaces between the equal sign and the word charset as well as between the equal sign and the value.

<meta charset="utf-8">

Good luck!

In addition to the other comments of completing the meta tag with:

<meta charset="UTF-8">

You need to make sure that meta tag is specified within the head and not the body.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <meta charset="utf-8">
</head>
<body>

</body>
</html>
