Select the ID wrapper, set it to a max width of 940 pixels, and then center it on the page using the margin property.

The error message I receive is check the max-width value which i set to 940px;

what exactly am i doing wrong?

Try moving the #wrapper rule below the closing brace of the a rule.

ah yes the } was missing from under the text-decoration. i was wondering why #wrapper did not change colors in the coding challenge
