Serializing a Bitmap for file storage

Hey, I'm creating an Android app that deals with profiles for people. The profile class includes their name, birthday, and a picture as a Bitmap image. For now I've labeled the bitmap as transient, and everything else saves correctly.

How would I go about serializing a bitmap?
