Hey James,

you forgot the # in front of your hex values. Apart from that, your comments are wrong. You have to use the forward slash and not the backslash, so your declarations in the #gallery li rule should look like this:

background-color: #f5f5f5; /* medium gray */
color: #bdc3c7; /* gray */

Also, for short notes (e.g. which color a certain hex value stands for) it's cleaner to just use one * in the beginning and one in the end. Multiple * are a good way to visually separate parts of the file. But that's just personal preference.
