Should connect file and session file be referenced in index.php?

I am developing a website using php. I have coded the connect.php & the session.php files. Do I need to provide an include or require in the index.php file for these two files?

Assuming that there are no other factors, then yes. The server doesn't know to load any files other than the index.php files unless you specify inside the index.php to load other files.
