Simple function calling a value code not working

Please help me understand why my code is not working. It says it doesn't look like I have created a function.

script.js
function returnValue(a) {
  returns (a);
}
index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>
</head>
<body>
<script src="script.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Also, the return keyword is a typo... on second thought, that's probably the problem here

The block inside your function should just read return a; and then you would call it like so: returnValue("a value");

Hey Jamie,

You have to call the function like this:

    returnValue("someValue");
