Please help me understand why my code is not working. It says it doesn't look like I have created a function.
function returnValue(a) {
returns (a);
}

10,004 PointsThe block inside your function should just read return a; and then you would call it like so: returnValue("a value");

You have to call the function like this:
returnValue("someValue");
