3,578 PointsSplitting only on spaces?
My code works as expected in workspaces. I have no idea why I am getting an error saying "make sure you are not splitting only on spaces". What does that mean? What else should I be splitting on? Am I supposed to remove punctuation or something?That is not specified in the challenge.
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word_count(string):
string.lower()
a = string.split()
d = dict()
for item in a:
d.update({item:a.count(item)})
return d

3,578 PointsMy issue was that when I did the string.lower(), it was only applying it to that single line. Changing that line to string = string.lower() fixed the issue.
