Python Python Basics (2015) Number Game App Squared

squaring the int and string

I'm guessing I didn't understand the instructions. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

squared.py
# EXAMPLES
# squared(5) would return 25
# squared("2") would return 4
# squared("tim") would return "timtimtim"

def squared(num):
    try:
        response = int(input("Choose a number: "))
        return response ** 2
    except ValueError:
        return response * len(response)

Hi Ezekiel,

You have the correct logic. The only issue is that the challenge doesn't ask you to prompt the user for an input. You need to work with the variable you've defined as "num" which will be passed into the function.

Good luck.
