Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Try and Except

Stuck at try and except, need help?

I'm stuck at the try and except part of the python beginner course for a while. I know i'm doing something wrong but just can't figure it out. Could someone please send me the solution or explain this to me please?

trial.py
try:
    def add(num1, num2):
        float(num1) , float(num2)

except ValueError:
    return None

else:
    return num1 + num2

The issue you are having is understanding scope. Here is an article on the subject https://www.python-course.eu/python3_global_vs_local_variables.php

def add(x,y):
    try:
        return float(x) + float(y)
    except ValueError:
        return None

I have figured it out. Thanks for the reply anyways!
