# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word_count(*args).lower():

11,393 PointsHey!
The python
word = list(word)
is returning a list of the chars in the variable word.
You should try the split() method. For example:
sentence = "My name is Eric"
words_in_sentence = sentence.split()
print words_in_sentence
This will print out ['My', 'name', 'is', 'Eric']
Hint: sentence.lower().split() will return ['my', 'name', 'is', 'eric']
