super() clarification

When passing the "name" and "**kwargs" parameters into the "init" method of the "super()" function in the subclass, do the parameters refer to the init in the subclass or the superclass?

The parameters of the subclass are being passed as arguments to the superclass. So they could be considered references to the subclass.
