4,265 Points"Task 1 is no longer passing" based on:
After your newly created returnValue function, create a new variable named echo. Set the value of echo to be the results from calling the returnValue function. When you call the returnValue function, make sure to pass in any string you'd like for the parameter.
function returnValue( anything ) {
var echo = returnValue;
return echo;
}
returnValue('toodles');

8,841 Pointscan you try like this,
function returnValue(a) {
return a;
};
var echo;
echo = returnValue('hi');
In your answer, if you do the following modifications it will pass the challenge. In the 2nd challenge, it was mentioned to assign the function return value to the variable. This happens outside the function. If you can modify it by placing it outside, then it will pass the challenge.
function returnValue( anything ) {
return anything;
}
var echo;
echo = returnValue('toodles');
