Task 1 works but then once it in Task 2 it stops working.

In the if statement you have parentheses after the variable answer

Get rid of those and it should work.

This worked in jsfiddle.

var answer = prompt('What is the best programming language?');
if (answer === 'JavaScript') {
  alert('You are correct'); 
}
