The gallery doesn't divide into two columns

One of the reasons is you slightly mispelled one of your selectors in your CSS. Fix this and your list items should start to divide into columns

float: left;
  width: 45%;
  margin: 2.5%;
  background-color: #f5f5f5;
  color: #bdc3c7;
}
