Spoiler alert! The structure you've written above works. Yonly need to define the variables!

This is my modest response to this challenge:

var a = 10
var b = 5

if (a > b) {
alert(a)
}else{ 
alert(b)
}

This is another example, in a function.

function Highest (a, b) {
if (a > b) {
return a
}else{ 
return b
}
}

Highest (20, 10);
