JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Passing an Argument to a Function

this code challenge wont work...

function returnValue(coffee){ return coffee; } var echo = returnValue(java); after writing the above code it says task one is not passing. what is wrong with this code?

You need to call the function with a string as the argument either like this:

function returnValue(coffee){ return coffee; }
var echo = returnValue("java");

Or like this

function returnValue(coffee){ return coffee; }
var java = "your java coffeee";
var echo = returnValue(java);
