this returns 2 lists, I dont know how to count the individual items in each list to get the total number of values

how can i get the total len for the items in the mutlples lists that are being returned

teachers.py 
# The dictionary will look something like:

#  'Kenneth Love': ['Python Basics', 'Python Collections']}

def num_teachers(dictionary):
    return len(dictionary)

def num_courses(dictionary):
    counter = 0
    for value in dictionary.values():
        counter += len(value)
    return counter
