You aren't assigning the value correctly to the variable. I hate to just give you the answer, but this is how to assign the uppercase value to the new variable:

var userName = id.toUpperCase();

Okay so first off all, toUpperCase makes the value in all upper case letters (ex, test -> TEST). The only problem you made is your format/syntax, David Bath told you how to fix it. Here is how just incase.

var lowerCase = "test"
var upperCase = lowerCase.toUpperCase();

upperCase now equals "TEST"
