Trouble assigning the value of the input field. I thought it would be the DOM object.value. Help please.

The assignment was to assign the value of a particular input type="text" to a variable. I tried using the document.getElementById("#linkName").value to no avail.

How does one return the value of an input field of type "text"?

Hi Tom,
your code should look like this: 

let linkName = document.getElementById("linkName").value;

document.getElementById("#linkName"). - Noop!
document.getElementById("linkName"). - Yep!
