Trouble with CSS <style> tag

I'm having problems with the <style> tag.

index.html
<STYLE>

  H1  {
  STYLE:
  }

  </STYLE>
  <h1>SHEMAEKA SHAW</h1>
</body>

Hi Shemaeka,

Just as a heads up, I modified your question title and content to be a bit more specific to the problem you were having. Also, it's good practice in the forums to reward the person with "Best Answer" if they have helped address your issue satisfactorily. It rewards that user with some bonus points, and also lets other forum members know that if they are facing the same issue that this particular question has an answer.

Thank you!

Your style tags are fine it's the content inside of them that are the problem

"style" within the {} won't change anything

<style>
h1 {
color:black ;
}
</style>
