17,732 PointsTrouble with improving PHP search
I'm stuck on this code challenge for adding search. It keeps telling me to add a "value" attribute to the input field. The object of the challenge is to retain the search term in the input field after a search is made. Not only did I add a value attribute, I added the PHP code I thought was correct. I put it into my text editor and tested it on my MAMP website, and it works there. But, for some reason, the console won't accept this answer.
<?php
require_once("inc/config.php");
$search_term = "";
if (isset($_GET["s"])) {
$search_term = trim($_GET["s"]);
if ($search_term != "") {
require_once(ROOT_PATH . "inc/products.php");
$products = get_products_search($search_term);
}
}
$pageTitle = "Search";
$section = "search";
include(ROOT_PATH . "inc/header.php"); ?>
<div class="section shirts search page">
<div class="wrapper">
<h1>Search</h1>
<form method="get" action="./">
<input type="text" name="s" value="<?php echo htmlspecialchars($_GET['s']); ?>">
<input type="submit" value="Go">
</form>
<?php
if ($search_term != "") {
if (!empty($products)) {
echo '<ul class="products">';
foreach ($products as $product) {
echo get_list_view_html($product);
}
echo '</ul>';
} else {
echo '<p>No products were found matching that search term.</p>';
}
}
?>
</div>
</div>
<?php include(ROOT_PATH . "inc/footer.php"); ?>

17,732 PointsI did and it still gave me the same message. I figured out that it actually wanted me to call the variable that stored $_GET["s"].

Have you tried submitting this without the php code?
Code challenges can be a little picky!
